About the Cavapoo
The Cavapoo is a cross breed that results from breeding a poodle and a Cavalier. The Cavalier was originally bred for hunting. Poodles were technically hunting dogs, but were used for retrievers. Every dog is unique. Cavapoos are extremely social and easy-going, getting along with humans, dogs and cats, and love sitting on your lap.
The first cavapoos were bred in the the 1950s. They are very popular due to their loving temperament and docility. Cavapoos have long floppy ears, round face and most are hypoallergenic. Our puppies are all F1 and will range between 12-20 lbs. They are very loyal and social. They make good therapy dogs and do not bark excessively.
Cavapoos are intelligent dogs that learn quickly. Consistence and repetition is important. Training sessions of 10-15 minutes are recommended and a gentle hand. Cavapoos do not respond to harsh treatment. Perseverance is a must. Potty-training may take longer than some owners would like.
Cavapoos’ life spans 13-15 years because they are a mixed breed and have less tendency to have health problems than their parents.
